Sunrite De Lite Jerk Seasoning
I like jerk seasoning a lot. I use it a lot on fish and chicken, but it also works just in vegetables or as a flavoring for rice. It’s very versatile.
I’ve made my own jerk and it freezes well. I’ve bought jerk too. “jerk” seems to be a pretty broad term and the only thing I think all jerk seasonings have in common is scallions and habaneros.
On one of my visits to the Super 88 Market and Food Court in Allston, I randomly bought a jar of the Sunrite De Lite Jerk Seasoning. My own recipe tends to be pretty scallion oriented, and therefore a green color. The Sunrite is a deep brown, almost black color. The flavor very hot (of course!), but not overpowering, and it has an emphasis on the scallions.
I’ve looked for this brand at the H-Mart in Burlington and scoured the web, but the 88 is the only place I’ve found it. In any case, I’ve stock-piled a few jars in the pantry.
