Singapore: McDonalds

No, I did not eat at McDonalds when I was in Singapore, but they have a presence everywhere in the world and Singapore is no exception. More after the break. And don’t worry, I have one more Singapore post that is better than McDonalds, but it’s taking me a while to put it all together. I’m saving the best for last.
So, while walking by one of their branches in one of the numerous malls in this city, I had to satisfy my curiosity and find out just what the locals were eating at the Golden Arches(tm). Did McDonalds have a local menu with, say, Laksa on it? Nope. It was the usual stuff that you’d find in any other McDonalds: essentially hamburgers, fries, and Value Meals. As I walked through looking at what people were eating, it could have just as easily been a McDonalds in the US. Fries were spread out on the trays with catsup, and diners had burgers in hand. Go figure. Why would people choose to eat western food at McDonalds in this food paradise?
Coincidentally, when I got back to the hotel from my walk, I read that McDonalds is opening a vegetarian location in northern India. What are they going to serve there, veggie burgers?
